Non-phthalate Plasticizers

  1. DOTP is the primary alternative and possibly the most important phthalate-free plasticiser in the market. DOTP, is extensively used in applications like extrusion, calendaring, injection molding, rotational molding, dip molding, slush molding, coating and some ink applications.
  2. Adipates: are especially suited for flexible PVC colorants and coatings requiring good low temperature properties. This type of product has a low initial viscosity and is easy to process. It is effective for extremely low-temperature applications, for resistance to UV light and for food contact applications (NAYAKEM)
  3. Benzoates: Benzoate Ester-type plasticizers are used in a wide range of applications such as adhesives, PVC, urethane resins, as high functional plasticizers. Advantages of Benzoates are: waterborne latex applications; adhesive needing 100% FDA compliance; formulations needing high solvating power; improved UV light degradation resistance; improvement in “soft feel” properties.
  4. Maleates: are co-polymerization plasticizers for vinyl acetate systems, vinyl chloride, styrene and derivatives of acrylic and methacrylic acids. It can be used in formulations and as a processing aid for latex paints and textiles as well as a specialty plasticizer. Used in co-monomers for vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride and so on, they have the effect of increasing the bindability and internal plasticization.

Other alternatives are Citratres, Sebacates, Succinates, and other specialty Esters.
